Benjamin Graham on Nebius Group
A relisted spinoff, accelerating coverage momentum, and widening losses under an identity barely two years old.
Graham’s opening distinction in The Intelligent Investor is the one to hold against Nebius’s current identity: “An investment operation is one which, upon thorough analysis, promises safety of principal and an adequate return. Operations not meeting these requirements are speculative.” (The Intelligent Investor) Thorough analysis, in Graham’s own method, runs on an earnings record averaged over at least a full business cycle — ideally seven to ten years (Security Analysis). The business trading as Nebius — a GPU-cloud infrastructure company, not the search engine the entity once was — has existed in its current form only since the Russian-asset sale closed in July 2024. Two years of a pivot is not the record Graham’s arithmetic was built to check.
The stock’s own behavior fits the pattern he distrusted more than the one he endorsed. NBIS jumped more than 50% on the September 2025 disclosure of a Microsoft deal worth up to $19.4 billion, then climbed past 250% year to date by November — the same week it reported a Q3 net loss of $100.4 million, wider than the $39.7 million loss a year earlier. A March 2026 Meta expansion, up to $27 billion, sent the stock up another 12%. Each move priced a multi-year contract before a multi-year record existed to test it against — the trend-of-earnings-into-the-indefinite-future problem Graham’s method was built specifically to refuse (Security Analysis).
TEXXR’s own tooling adds a fact no filing discloses: Nebius’s coverage velocity is accelerating (+4.06, acceleration +4.89) while its closest neocloud peer’s is decelerating, same cohort, same quarters. Graham’s speculative public “will fall for any company identified with…technology, whatever the particular fashion happens to be at the moment” (The Intelligent Investor) — an accelerating attention curve is not an accelerating earnings one, and on the record so far, Nebius has mostly the former.
